Praciticing Personification - Heavy Metal!

Her claws snipped, snipped my fingers off.
She looks like she has got a arm beside her face.
She can blink about 1 000 000 times a minute.
She has her name on her t-shirt.
And she lives on a rocky volcano.

Emma

Her fist destroyed the building.
Her arm goes round, round, and round.
Her wrecking ball is pounding the dirt.
She loves trashing the place.
Her wrecking ball swings and swings through the sky.
She is crying.
Her arm is as tall as a skyscraper.
She is lonely.
She zig zags through the dirt.
She is the ultimate crusher.
She rolls through fences.
Buildings crack, cars get smashed, and roads crumble.
She makes earthquakes.
The light makes her work.
Her face doesn't smile.
She frowns.

Noah

Her sturdy body looks best for her.  Her body is orange, bluey silvery, and white.  Her jagged teeth bite the ground.  Her feet are round and huge.  Her arm is long and slim and on her neck says her name like a tatoo.

Kate

The Machine
Her huge long arm started to reach as long as it could go.  Her blue body started to smash the building as hard as she could. She loved smashing the enormous, old building that took too long to crush. Once she finished smashing the building, she wanted to smash it again.

Ashleigh

It started smashing concrete.  Bang, smash, oww.  Right at that moment it hit a human.  He was knocked unconscious.  Guess he shouldn't have been playing in that area.  It's jagged teeth looked like it was eating itself.  It's engine was like a dying predator.  It's feet are steady and chained.

The street was usual enough.....

We did writing modeled a little on James K Baxter’s writing.

The street was usual enough. Leaning and hard to get past. We played on the path next to the street.  We crossed the street safely and were careful. We did what boys and Dads do, played together and felt excited.
Rory

The town was usual enough with single houses, a big beach and buildings.  We biked, played soccer, played rugby and ran races.  We did what families do exploring together.
Izak

The street was usual enough, round abouts, flat roads, trees and grass.  We scootered with friends.  We said “Hi” to neighbors and made new friends.  We did what families do having heaps of fun and spending time together all playing in the back yard and getting messy.
Kendal

The town was usual enough, jewellery shop, MacDonald’s and straight roads.  My granny lives at the jewellery shop.  Me and my sister saw Muda the dog.  I think he is a German Shepherd.  We did what families do being caring, nice and kind.
Flynn

The beach was usual enough.  It had sand, water, fish and sky all over it.  When it snowed we slid down the hills on black bags.  On hot days we went to the beach and played in the water. Sometimes me and my family dug big holes.  That is what my family does best.
Casey

The room was usual enough.  It had three teddies, one net and a tea set.  I’d read books. We did what brothers and sisters do and had adventures down the back of the house. We found hats, cats and mats and even butterflies. I felt exhausted.  I fell asleep on the ground.
Izobella

The country was usual enough, tall hills, fun hot parks, massive cold forests.  We went to Uncle Brett’s for a scrummy tea and swim.  Had a go on the fast motorbike.  We did what cousins usually do
Luke

The room was usual enough.  It had skateboard shelves, a big desk with books, a narrow cupboard and a funny little squeaking monkey.  We talked together, played Lego and read Harry Potter.  We did what families do best, run and work together and have an enthusiastic time.
Mason

The town was usual enough.  The roads were bumpy and rough.  We played running games.  Blue skies above us.  Tripping over unusual cracks on the ground.  Roadwork’s everywhere.  Playing all day like cousins do.  On motor bikes on the farm, scootering on creamy concrete, looking for rabbits, feeling different and lucky.
Caleb

The town was usual enough. Curved and wild roads, parks, trees, nice and warm.  My friend and I liked to play on the trampoline.  We went to the park.  We read at night because we wanted to be better readers.  We did what friends do.   Played games and have extra fun.
Taylor

The city is usual enough.  Wobbly roads, tall and fat houses, golf courses, trees, after shocks and earthquakes.  There’s bouncy bumps and quiet and sleepy roads.  Every night the birds twitter and people try to get to sleep.  We visited MacDonald’s.  Went to school. And to Toy World.  Me and my brothers play wrestling and rugby and soccer and play cricket.  Cooper and me play Wii and Jackson plays play station.  We did what brothers do.  Fight and enjoy life and have 5 times as much fun as we mostly do.
Brodie

The city was usual enough.  Sandy and dark and smooth and tiny and with a spiky tree on the other side of long grass.  We ran around the block 3 times.  We scootered around speeding on the street.  We did what brothers do, hang around all the time and wrestle on the tramp and play cricket.
Ollie

The house was usual enough.  It had cream bricks and white walls.  A lot of trees and a play house.  Me and my brother played around in my room.  We slept in my room.  Watched TV and played outside on my trampoline.  We did what families do.  Played together, went to the park together and never left anyone behind.
MacKenzie

The house was usual enough.  Old grass, concrete a bumpy drive, two small cars.  We played sport, ran around and feed fish and played Wii. We did what brothers do, played and argued over games.
Noah

The street is usual enough. Curly and busy. We did what brothers do. Biking fast like Lightening McQueen.  Running zippy like cars and scottering as hasty as a cheetah.
Ryan

The room was usual enough. Colourful duvet cover, one big teddy, one long desk, two little lights.  I drew on my desk all the time.  I slept in the colorful bed and cut some stuff out that I drew with my stencils.  We did what families do, wearing slippers, coloured in, cut stuff out.
Ashleigh

The room was usual enough.  I did my nails and watched TV.  I read my book and picked up my cell phone and played some games.  It had colourful walls and a desk as well, an owl duvet cover, and pillow.  I just sat around on my cell phone playing games.  Just doing what girls do.  Sometimes my friends came over and we had pillow fights.

Our Drain Stories

The drains…..

One day some people came to check the drains at break. It was crowded with kids like a soccer field and as loud as someone screaming.  I said “Can we go and play,” to Flynn. But Flynn said “No, after it’s done.”  So we stayed there.  Then it finally finished and the bell rang so we had to go to class.
Josh

Once I was biking through the forest.  Suddenly I heard a noise in the drains.  I stopped.  I thought of going down there.  I didn’t want too.  It was gooey and sloppy.  But I went down there anyway.  I found what was making the noise.  It was like chicken bones and as scary as a shark.  I said “Argheee it’s a dead body.”  It was gross and disgusting and annoying.  I wanted it out.  A little voice said that he cannot come up. The drain was as dark as night time.  The voice said “He’s been down here for many years.”  I got out because the voice kept whispering in my ear.  A few days later I went fishing.  It was as fun as riding a dolphin.  I said “Wow Dad you caught a dog fish.”  It was as loose as a broken robot.  The fish was slimy.
Noah

Once upon a time there was a rat.  He lived in the drains.  It was like rotten mould and old mud.  He said “It smells like something you would not eat.”  So one day he said “I’m going to get out of this.”  So he packed his bag.  On he went until he came to a very yucky part.  He said “It has got a lot of terrible stuff like old fish.”  It was hideous. So he walked through the sloppy mess.  When he came out of it he met his brother.  His brother said “How have you been?” The rat said “Terrible, disgusting and torture.”  “I know,” said his brother.  “I agree Rat.”  “Lets get out of here,” said his brother.  “Yeah” said Rat.
William

The drain was as black as ink.  I thought  ”Yuck it smells like rotten flesh.” And  it had so many leaves.  It was dirty and sloppy. The pipe was long and slimy and crowded.
Ollie

On a wet Saturday morning I was walking to the beach with my dog.  A drain appeared in front of me but I never knew it was so close to us.  A huge puddle was in front and that’s why I couldn’t see the drain.  Then my dog saw another dog, he ran straight to him. I tripped up and went head first into the noxious, sloppy, decaying, gross and hideous drain.  It smelled like rotten flesh with lots of sandflies.  I was stuck in there for four hours until Mum and Dad searching for me.  They tried to pull me out but failed.  They kept trying.  It took five goes before they actually got me out of the drain.
Brodie

Three weeks back drain people came to our school to fix them.  In the drains it looked like rotten flesh and disgusting.  Ashleigh said “Yuck, that looks like rotten slimy chicken.”  It just looked really gross.  The noise was annoying.  It smelt like slimy rotten, gooey chocolate.  Some rats and mice live in drains and if they do they will be all dirty all the time and they will get stinky.  I have held a mouse and rat before because my Mum wanted a photo. When I was holding the rat it bit my finger because I was holding the rat by its tail.  I said “Ow” because it really hurt.  The rat was biggish and the mouse was smallish.  Ashleigh said “There might be some mice and rats in the drains Izobella.”  The drains are as smelly as the smelliest rat in the world.
Ashleigh

Once there was a baby bandicoot crawling inside a drain.  He was scared so he said “Eek, eek, eek!” He crawled back to his bush.  He thought the drain was gross, hideous, disgusting, sloppy and gooey.  The next day he went to the icky drain.  It was as sloppy as a snail and as loud as construction work.  So he went down.  Later on that day in the drain he found some corn he wanted to eat.  But it was made out of a mans invention so the bandicoot said “Yuck, yuck,” and he spitted the piece of metal out.  The metal was orange and green.  He dug so deep that he touched the core of the earth. He saw another pipe so he crawled at 7k an hour to get there.

It rained....

It rained…..

The rain reminds me of puddles when it rains there are enormous puddles on my street.  My hair turns browner than it is now.  The rain also reminds me of Australia and the swimming pool.  It’s a little bit cold and a little bit blue. The rain comes from clouds that are grey.  The rain does not smell like anything at all.  It feel a little bit happy and a little bit sad when it rains.  There is no rain when the clouds are white.  The rain is just like a drop of water.  Rain is fantastic because it helps plants grow and we need water because ducks will need to have a bath so they are clean.
Ashleigh

It was soggy yesterday morning.  I had to stay in side.  It smelled like grass.  It felt like cotton and looked like skinny marshmallows.

When I woke up this morning...

This morning when I woke up….

This morning I woke up and I felt happy because I’m going to Flynn’s house.  I fell out of bed. It hurt my back, I stood up.  I was thinking what should I do next.  My arm was moving slowly.  My body was moving.  My back was getting better because I sat down for a minute.
Noah

Yesterday I woke up.  I was tired.  My arms and legs were wobbly.  I didn’t want to come to school.  But I love school.
Emma

This morning when I woke up I was happy.  It was school.  I fell out of bed and hurt myself. I felt sad.  I like everything. I like learning because it is fun.
Jack Pe

In the morning my alarm clock went beep beep. I opened one eye.  And I didn’t want to get up.  I flipped my legs out then my arms and finally my head.  It was dark I went into the kitchen and made breakfast. I made weetbix. I made weetbix for me.  I put the TV on.  SpongeBob was on he made me laugh.
Isobella.

This morning when I woke up, I woke up by myself. I was excited because my dog jumped on my bed.  And then I shouted to my mum. “Can you get the dog out of my room?”
James

When I woke up I heard my Dad snoring. It was loud.  I laughed quietly or the others would wake up.
Charlotte

When I woke up I lifted my left foot up and I lifted my right foot up and then I got out of bed.
Zoe

When I woke up this morning I kicked all the blankets of my bed.  It wasn’t a bit chilly, it was really chilly.
Abbey

When I woke my alarm went off and it was 6.30am.  When I got my left foot out then my right foot. My eyes were half shut.  Then I got dressed and turned on my TV and put on Channel 42 Mickey Mouse was on.  So I said “No way I’m watching this.”  So I turned on 12 Chuck the Little Car was on.  So I got a DVD called Lego Friends Forever Volume 1.  It was 7.00am.  When I went down stairs I had breakfast.  For breakfast I had weetbix.  It was cold with Milo.  It was yummy and hot, warm and kind of cold.
Kate

In the morning I woke up and checked what time it was on my watch. Then I hopped into my Mums bed.  When I hopped out of my Mums bed I sat down on my couch and turned on the TV.  Sesame Street was on.  I got dressed into my school uniform.  It is blue and white and it is a dress.  I made my breakfast.  It was cornflakes and banana.  While I was eating I was getting my school bag ready.  I had to put in my lunch box, book bag, jacket and my hat.  On my hat Freeville School is written on it.  Then my Mum did my hair in a ponytail.  We went to school and went in the classroom.  I hung my bag up where my name is.
Ashleigh

When I woke up I was thinking about having fun with my friends and I also felt happy because I’m going to the movies and I am getting a dog.  I climbed out of bed and got down the ladder.  When I climbed out of bed I was hungry.  I climbed down the ladder and hurt my leg. I sat down. When I sat down it still hurt.  I was thinking what I should do because it really hurts.
Maliyah

This morning when I woke up the sun was high in the sky and I went in to the lounge and it was bright.  I was half asleep and it was dark.

Myia

When I woke up I fell out of bed.  I got dressed and opened my curtains.  I fed my fish then I had my breakfast. Then my Mum did my hair. Then my Mum made my lunch.
Shayla

This morning when I woke up I was lying on my back.  I stepped out of my bed.  Then I went in the lounge. I was tired.  I was so tired I couldn’t get ready for school. My legs were so tired they were not moving. My arms were stretching like mad.
Aaron

This morning when I woke up I was tired because it was another big day.  I opened two eyes and I leapt out of my bed.  I opened my curtains.  I got changed.  Then I got the milk out of the cupboard and Mums Museli and a bowl and spoon.  Then I ate my breakfast.  I jumped of my chair.  I did my jobs.  I felt happy because I could play.
